Introduction

Autonomous Technology and Smart Transportation is the very first international event about autonomous vehicles to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam on the afternoon of 26rd March 2021.

The event will be hosted by the Phenikaa Group in collaboration with TIER IV, The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Nagoya University, and Japanese Ministry of Trade, Economy and Industry (METI).

The Exchange meeting will have participations of more than 100 domestic and foreign companies in the field of technology, transportation, smart city, etc this is a golden chance to connect, contact, introduce products & solutions, and also a great platform for further discussions.

Moreover, participating guests will have the chance of a test ride around the university’s campus on the autonomous vehicle which is researched and manufactured at Phenikaa Research & Technology Institute.

Introduction

Autoware Academy Autonomous Driving Course is the first Training Course on Autonomous Vehicle in Vietnam.

The Training Program is a great opportunity for participants to get a thorough insight into both theory and practice of autonomous vehicles. The training will be held at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) on the first day 22nd March, and will continue at Phenikaa University on the remaining days. At HUST, Japanese Professors will teach the overall of autonomous driving and related business and technology. At Phenikaa, it will be a series of exercises & demonstrations.

Participants will have an overall understanding about the functioning of an autonomous vehicle. Furthermore, they will be introduced to many latest technologies helping them to better understand and operate the tech devices.

1. Overall of Autonomous Driving

(1st day – 22nd March)

Course Title Details
① Over of  Autonomous Driving To learn the current situation of Autonomous Driving, Open Source Software “Autoware” for Autonomous Driving, necessary skills for Autonomous Driving
② Technical Points To learn technical points such as high-precision map, digital infrastructure, sensor technology, AI based on driving data to realize Full Autonomous Driving in the future
③ Remote Monitoring and Control System To learn the essential system for remote monitoring & control to realize Level 4 Autonomous Driving, current legal regulations, joint activities with Tier IV’s partners, and also, to learn the  rchitecture and technology supporting the system
④ Overview of Tier IV activities & Market Potential in Autonomous Driving Details To introduce overview of Tier IV activities and also the market potential in the future with the forecast of the market trend
⑤ Practical Use of Deep Learning A key concept in autonomous driving and it seems that many of the students are relatively inexperienced.

① Introduction  To explain how to build the environment for Autoware
② Rviz  To record data on ROS & play actual data on simulator
③ Sensor Calibration  To learn how to do calibration of camera & LiDAR for object detection
④ 3D Map Creation  To create 3D Map
⑤ Localization  To learn how to do localization from 3D Map & real-time data by LiDAR
⑥ Vector Map Builder  To introduce the tool to add road information like signals on 3D Map

⑦ Object Detection  To learn how to detect objects like cars and forecast the direction & speed
⑧ Signal Detection  To learn how to detect signals by camera and LiDAR
⑨ Path Planning  To introduce algorithm to follow the path planning
⑩ Deceision Maker  To check if the vehicle is running legally on 3D Map from road information such as stopping at stop line & lighting when turning right or left
⑪ Simulator  To introduce how to do operation check by more advanced simulator having scenario functions
